Think of a light bulb vs a laser. The light bulb is the wifi with standard antennae and the laser is the tplink with a directional antenna. If you don't have access to the signal source you can still get one and use it with the dish setup to get longer ranges, And if you get two and you still have a weak signal, you can boost it as much as twice as much with a 24db antenna that will attach to it.
